The Songs in The Body

On the page 299, at the very beginning of the chapter 3, the author mentions four songs: "What in the World's Come Over You" by Jack Scott, "This Time" by Troy Shondell, "King Creole" by Elvis, a"Only the Lonely" by Roy Orbison. Listening to these musics, I could imagine the ambience and time setting of 1960s better. These songs and videos may seem outdated and boring, but these songs will sound good when you read the novel at the same time. These songs are like OSTs, that make you imagine the scenary of the Club House and the three boys.

  1. Excellent! Thank you very much for doing this. I've been showing all the other classes. Which song do you think matches each character?

  2. Well, the last song is definitely Gordie's song, but the other three are kind of vague. I would like to match the first one to Vern, the second to Teddy, and the third one to Chris. I think it is okay to match all four to Gordie: the first two songs are farewell with Brother, third one shows the energetic Gordie with his friends, and the last song resemble "invisible", lonely Gordie at home.

  3. I agree that Gordie can fit into all four songs(kinda like four seasons~).
But, I'm curious to whether Chris will fir really well with King Creol.
Rather, I want to match Teddy with King C. and Chris with Only the Lonely.
Also, if you consider Jonathan Rhys Meyers' version of This Time, I think it'll fit well with Chris as well.
(Perhepse it's the effect of watching the movie version of Teddy and Chris)

  4. I am glad with the first comment from a person other than Mr. Garrioch!! I didn't know that there was another version of This Time.(But isn't it a different song?) Any way, I think Teddy matches to King C., and Chris to in a different way from the way I matched. Still, it works well!! Thank you for a good idea!
